We are now upon 2023, There’s a lot happening in retail for the new year, not just in eCommerce, but also with the economy, new trends and social concerns. To help you get a head start over your competition, here are 5 of the best ecommerce tips for 2023!

1. New Visuals for the New Year

With every new year, people expect your website to look better. Online retailers must keep up with the time. The problem is you don’t want to overhaul your entire website every year, how do you make an old site look new? What if you are stuck within the limits of an eCommerce channel like Amazon or Shopify?

The simple answer is to improve the quality of product photos, but sometimes it’s not enough. A better answer is 360° product photos, which not only looks futuristic, but also allows customers to interact with the image, enhancing the user experience and your conversion rate.

2. Streamline your Conversion Process

Given that convenience is one of the main reasons people shop online, it makes sense that your checkout process is exactly that; quick and easy for your for shopper. The less clicks the user has to make, the better!

It’s also a good idea to look at store analytics to understand customer behavior on your website. Do you have pages on your website that are losing visitors? If so, you need to sort it out to make sure your store is optimized for conversions.

Don’t forget the landing page! Make sure you’re up to date to reflect your strategy for the new year and reduce landing page clicks used for purchases.

3. Includes Shipping Estimates & Expected Delivery Dates

Customers are becoming increasingly worried about delivery timelines while shopping online. These issues can be mitigated by informing customers of a deadline to purchase the product in order to receive it by a certain date (e.g. Valentine). We recommend a shipping calendar on your website and a more accurate delivery estimate on your checkout page.

4. Accept New Payment Options

With the new year comes new and popular payment options. First, we had digital wallets, then cryptocurrencies, and now in 2023 we have “Buy Now Pay Later” apps.

This new payment system, similar to credit cards, allows users to purchase goods online immediately, but pay for them in installments over time. The best part (for you) is that they pay the retailer in full upfront, while the payment company handles the backend process. We recommend adding these to your checkout, as some popular brands include Afterpay, PayPal, and Klarna.

5. Email Lists

Even in 2023, email marketing remains one of the most effective marketing tools for online channels, generating the highest ROI across sales tactics. Leverage this by ensuring your email lists are in order and segmented to capitalize on driving revenue from your email campaigns.

Some additional tips for your consideration are:

  • Ensure that your website is optimized for mobile devices
  • Engage with your current client base by way of email marketing
  • Reward loyal customers
  • Provide deals on delivery
  • Make sure your website is scalable

I hope that you now feel ready to take on the new year! With a strategic approach and some prior organization, you have the opportunity to significantly boost sales and grow your brand.
